Hi, I’m Katie — the cook, gardener, writer, and photographer behind The Heirloom Skillet.
This space was created from my love of real food, old recipes, and the slower, more intentional ways of living that have been passed down through generations. I believe the best meals — and the best days — are built from simple ingredients, well-worn tools, and a willingness to do things by hand.
The name The Heirloom Skillet comes from my collection of cast iron skillets that have been passed down through my family for generations. They’ve seen biscuits rise, gravy bubble, and countless Sunday dinners shared with family and friends. Every scratch and layer of seasoning tells a story, and I like to think those stories live on through the recipes I share here.
I started this blog to create an heirloom of my own — a place to pass these recipes down to my children, so one day they’ll have all the flavors they grew up loving right here to look back on. And if someone else finds comfort, inspiration, or confidence in their own kitchen along the way, that’s a gift I never take lightly.
